Prepare the factory layout and utility requirements

Bring the real building, access and utility conditions into the design conversation. A scope brief is useful before equipment dimensions and a reviewed layout exist.

01

Document the existing building

Provide measured dimensions, clear height, columns, doors, slopes, drainage and structural restrictions. Mark incoming and outgoing access, loading, waste handling and maintenance removal paths. Proposed equipment footprints are not enough: service clearances, operator access and lifting arrangements need their own space.

02

Separate the movements

Describe raw produce, packaging, people, tools, cleaning supplies, rejected material and finished-product flows. Identify product-contact and clean/dirty interfaces for a qualified hygienic review. The objective is to reveal potential crossings and responsibilities, not to certify a generic drawing as hygienic or safe.

03

Bring utility conditions to each interface

List the available utility type, quality, pressure or temperature where relevant, capacity, location and operating constraints. Include production, simultaneous cleaning, start-up and seasonal conditions. Supplier load schedules and site generation/distribution capacity must be reconciled before scope freeze.
