Plan seasonal raw supply and productive hours together
Annual crop availability and a machine nameplate are insufficient to define plant capacity. Connect the harvest calendar to an achievable operating schedule.
Map the supply window
Record delivered volume by crop and period, expected maturity and rejects, transport and receiving limitations, and any holding or storage arrangements. Distinguish a documented supply commitment from an assumed seasonal surplus. Use peak arrival scenarios as well as average daily supply when planning intake and queues.
Separate scheduled and productive time
Shifts include activities that do not turn raw fruit into saleable product. Define the time boundaries for cleaning, product changeover, planned service and other interruptions. The season tool uses an explicit productive fraction rather than an unexplained capacity allowance. Avoid applying downtime twice to a rate that was already averaged over the full shift.
Use measured recovery with a named outlet
State whether recovery ends at pressed juice, screened puree, evaporator feed or another intermediate. Track quality together with mass: accepting unwanted peel, seeds or fibre is not useful yield. Later concentration, recipe additions, product loss and pack rejects need separate balances. A raw-crop yield cannot directly predict finished packs.
Test the operational alternatives
Compare more productive hours, a different intake rate, temporary storage and a multi-crop campaign against raw-material and product constraints. A shared plant may require different preparation modules, change parts and validated cleaning. Confirm equipment compatibility and supply economics before treating another crop as guaranteed off-season utilization.
