Decanter Centrifuge for fruit processing
Prepare a decanter selection brief using fruit mash properties, feed solids, required liquid recovery, solids discharge and cleaning requirements. This page explains selection questions for a project discussion; it is not a model catalogue or a fixed equipment specification.
Where this separation method fits
Decanter centrifuges separate phases by density difference. They are commonly considered for larger particles and higher solids loading than a disc stack separator. The feed and required outputs must be evaluated before choosing an arrangement.
Review the incoming material, pretreatment and downstream process together. A generic machine name does not establish the correct separation duty, number of phases or achievable product quality.
Define the result before choosing equipment
Describe both output streams: the desired liquid recovery and residual solids, and the intended condition and use of the separated solids. Define the sampling method and mass balance needed to assess a trial.
Compare samples taken under agreed conditions. Specify the product characteristics that must be preserved, as well as the material to be removed. A trial on one fruit or formulation does not establish the result for another.
Information for a separation proposal
| Input | What to provide |
|---|---|
| Feed description | Fruit or vegetable, preparation method, solids content, particle information and variation during the campaign. |
| Physical properties | Density and viscosity measurements with test conditions, temperature and any known handling constraints. |
| Required outputs | Quality targets for each stream, recovery calculation basis, sampling method and downstream use. |
| Operating schedule | Required feed rate, daily operating hours, product changes and planned cleaning time. |
| Site interfaces | Available space, utilities, upstream feed control, discharge handling, cleaning and controls boundaries. |
Mark unmeasured values as pending. Ask the proposal to distinguish confirmed inputs, trial-dependent results and excluded work.
Confirm performance through representative trials
Agree the feed sample, operating conditions, output measurements and acceptance criteria before comparing results. Include cleaning, product changes and material handling in the project scope, alongside separation performance.
Request the proposed model data and supply responsibilities during engineering review. No capacity, separation efficiency or delivery scope is guaranteed by this overview.
